Working on our tans

The weather is finally nice. We like to be outside going for walks and laying on the deck. Mom set up a tent for us on the deck so we could have a shady area to lay down, but we like this spot better. Euchre has some catching up to do on the tanning!

Mom takes us on our regular walk around the neighborhood. Shawn is visiting and he takes us for walks too. But we cheat and take him for the short version around the block.

Most of our playing is now in the basement where it's cool. Poker and Mom play tug-of-war with toys that he hasn't played with in a while (like the purple tug toy). Euchre likes the plastic bottles that Shawn leaves in the basement. He takes them into a cool corner and crunches on the plastic.

Scary machine!

I pick a toy for Mom to play with me. This is the one I like this week. I bring it to her and she throws it across the room. I run and get it and then SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE it. See my ears flopping when I shake?

I play a little tug-of-war with her before I let her take it to throw again. There it is. All the way over there. I got it!

Oh oh. Mom threw it behind that scary machine... I don't know if I want to get it from there. Maybe...

Uh, that's okay. I'll find another toy.

Where's our food?

Poker looks sad because Mom took all the food away. It's in garbage bags on the kitchen floor and Mom won't let him eat any.

Mom thought we were safe from the dog food recalls since we eat dry food and are allergic to chicken, beef, lamb, and pork. But yesterday they recalled Natural Balance venison and brown rice. That's what we were eating!

So Mom took it all away. We got a trip to Petco out of it. Some of the food spilled out of the garbage bag and in the car when Mom was driving. But Euchre took care of the mess. chomp chomp crunch crunch. At the store, we got two BIG bags of Natural Balance Duck and Potato. And some more veggie treats and more chew toys! Yippee!

The vet told Mom that as long as we drink water, don't throw up any food, and stay on veggie-only treats we should be okay.

What we did this weekend

Yawn....stretch... Zzzzz.

We slept all weekend. We followed Mom around the house (and in the car) and we slept everywhere she went. We would post pictures but someoneymous said that all the pictures of us sleeping look the same. (But we slept naked. Not wearing clothes. Why do you keep posting that picture? --Poker Because you need to go on a diet. --Euchre)

So you can go here to see the same pictures of us sleeping. We're too tired to post a real blog entry.

We went to the vet today

We're going for a ride! Mom spent all day with us today, but we don't spend a lot of time at home. We're going...to the vet for a checkup.

There were a lot of dogs there today. We met a 10-year-old english bulldog named Louie, a boxer, a french bulldog, and a rottweiler who howls just like Poker. Hey! Well, he did sound like me. --Poker After we checked in at the counter, we each got on the scale and sat down. Mom was proud that we knew exactly what to do. The nurse said we behaved very well too. Poker weighs in at 57.0 lbs. Euchre weighs in at 56.4 pounds. HA!! You need to go on a diet. --Euchre We hang out in the waiting room. Mom lets us sit on the bench with her while she reads the paper.

Finally, they call our name and we wait in another room. Who's there?

Poker's scared and hides under the chair.

Euchre is brave and goes first. The doctor takes some blood from Euchre's paw for a heartworm test and listens to Euchre's breathing with a stethescope. He needs a stethescope? I can hear him from here! --Poker Euchre's test is negative but he has yucky ears, so we get medicine for that. That didn't seem to bad, so Poker eventually comes out.

Poker was brave too and let the doctor take some blood from his paw. His tests are also negative, but his ears are really yucky and he gets some yellow pills to take. Pfft! I remember those. Yuck! Mom gave me one and I spit it out. --Poker Shortly afterward, Poker gets some peanut butter with a crunchy yellow center.

I have to pee

Nap time

I feel better when I hold my brother's paw. --Euchre

We've been pretty lazy lately. Even more than usual. We follow Mom around the house and lay down and watch her work. We have to move whenever she wants to open the kitchen cabinets, refrigerator or dishwasher. But Poker figured out that she can fit through the bedroom door even if he doesn't move. She fits. What's the problem? I was comfy. --Poker

We're using the day bed more and more. Euchre likes it because he can climb up by himself. Poker likes to sleep on it when Euchre's in the computer room because it's quiet without Euchre snoring and sticking his tongue out. But we both like to play on it, too. Instead of running up and down the hallway from Mom's room to the computer room, Poker runs up on the day bed and attacks Euchre who's sleeping, then runs down the trundle bed, then quickly turns around and run and charges up the trundle to the day bed to attack Euchre over and over again. Mom tried to get a video, but she was too slow.

By the time she got the camera, we started playing quietly with another toy. Yeah, quietly, because I took the squeaker out of the toy. --Euchre

Tickle Me Poker

Mom surprises Poker with a tickle fight.

Not to be outdone, Poker tackles Mom afterwards!

Let's do it again!

It was a cold and windy night

We were soo cold last night that Mom didn't even put the ceiling fan on. The ceiling fan keeps Euchre from snoring (real loud), but Euchre ends up sleeping on the tile in the bathroom anyway.

Yesterday Poker moved from his usual spot at the footboard to sleep next to Mom. Euchre took up Poker's spot there. Euchre kept Mom's feet warm while Poker kept Mom's hands and face warm. I stayed there all night and didn't snore or burp in her face. --Poker Yay! --Mom

Our second set of ears

Or third. Who's counting?

There better be a treat at the end of this photo session. --Poker

This totally looks better on me. What's that? What does flamboyant mean? --Euchre

Pitch a Stitch

We like Uncle Cedric's gift better. We know exactly what to do with it. Yeah...take it downstairs and put it with the rest of the toys.--Poker Our Hurl-a-Squirrel and Chuck-a-Duck have seen better days so we're happy we got a new toy. Thanks, Uncle Cedric!

After Poker first sees the toy and takes it to the basement, Euchre re-stakes his claim on Stitch.

Eventually, we learn to share Stitch.

--Poker and Euchre

Our first ears

Okay, well maybe our second. Mom's been gone. She snuck away while we weren't looking. (I did not. You guys were too busy with your Nylabones to give Mom kisses. --Mom)

She came back today and made us wear these funny ears.

And then she put glasses on us. She said they're "3-D". Like 3-doggy? We only see two! Euchre didn't like wearing his. Poker was better about keeping his on. He'd cock his head so he could see out the sides. Euchre finally settled for wearing his on top of his head.

Robin stayed over and played with us. We're really tired but we're happy that Mom is back.
