Poker's visit to the Vet

Saturday Mom took us to the boathouse, where we laid on the cool concrete inside in our playpen until after Mom was finished with practice. We like all the people. They like to pet us. We followed them around until Mom yelled at us to move. We didn't know they were carrying heavy boats.

After that, we went for another ride...to the vet. We went to the vet because Poker has been limping more often, and he's going bald. I am not! It's just patchy in spots. --Poker First, we got on the scale. We know to get on and stand nicely on the scale one at a time. Mom was proud of us. Euchre weighs 56.0 lbs now, Poker weighs 55.4 lbs. Who's got the big belly now? --Poker Here we are in the exam room, huddled against the wall near Mom. You can tell that Poker knows he's the one who has to see the doctor.


The doctor came and looked at Poker's leg and flexed his joints. Then he got taken away for an x-ray. Poker was scared at leaving Mom and Euchre in the room. He was even more scared in the x-ray room. He peed and squirted his butt all over himself, the table, and the technician. Don't tell that part! It's embarrassing! --Poker Poker's x-ray showed he has little bone spikes in his right elbow. So he (and Euchre) will keep getting glucosamine vitamins and he'll also get some aspirin so he won't feel the hurt. Here's pictures of his x-rays. Can you see the spikes?



Poker's doing better now with pills to fix his patchy spots. They were from a bacterial infection. Euchre got some attention during this visit too. He has a growth on the fold between his nose and right eye. The doctor says it was a growth due to a virus, so he got some medicine for Mom to put on it. Next time, we hope we get treats instead of medicine.
